Just back from a whirlwind weekend of musical adventures…
Posted in News by Kevin Smith
My wife and I headed up to Durham, N.C. for a three-fold expedition: #1 – it was my brother’s 40th birthday so we picked a centralized location to celebrate which enabled some of his long-lost high school and later buddies to all meet up and show him love. #2 – the short “film” I scored the music for was chosen to screen at the 2011 Nevermore Film Festival … “Cornerboys” (which can be seen here) showed in a block of shorts and was quite well received. I even got to participate in an artist Q&A session with the audience followed by a meet and greet and autograph signing. #3 – I got to reconnect with some old family friends. Marie and Scott Miller are brother/sister with whom I spent much of my childhood. In fact, Scott is the person I claim as my primary musical influence. It was Scott that opened my eyes to the brave new world of guitars and big rock music… and, to my utter delight, I got a chance to see him play in his band The Arrogant Bastards doing an amazing set of Les Paul-soaked, testosterone-fueled, vintage guitar rock.
This weekend was one for the books…
